Another classic, cool climate grape growing season, with its own records and challenges leading to great results at the end. A cool spring led to later than average flowering. As spring progressed with continued cool weather and unseasonal rain, the vines reacted by setting the perfect number of berries to match the season. Lighter bunches combined with a perfect Indian summer saw fruit able to be left on the vines to slowly ripen over the second half of March and April.
Lime zest, sherbet and toffee apples combine with a vein of apricot and melon. The palate slows excellent richness and texture. A lively acidic finish enhances the minerality and gives the wine great length.
The grapes were harvested in two separate picks in order to bring a broad spectrum of ripeness. Fermentation was done at cool temperatures with several different yeasts to further enhance complexity. These tanks were then considered at the blending table where the final balance and complexity was selected.
